About Scott
"There's something about a really good sunset picture that just doesn't look like 'ordinary' life."

I have always been fascinated with photography and the idea of capturing the essence of something. As a kid, I'd play with my dad's film SLR. I remember taking pictures of me standing really still, but shaking my head really fast, so that I could get a photo with a clear body and a really fuzzy head.

Even though I'd always wanted to get into photography, I didn't buy my first camera until January of 2005 -- a Canon EOS 20D. After I bought the EOS 20D, I started shooting everything in sight. Living in Florida at the time, there were plenty of good days for taking pictures. My favorite thing to photograph is sunsets - because you can go back every day to practice.

It's so ironic to me that the colorblind guy takes the color photos, while my wife takes the black and whites!

About Tami
"I discovered that I began to see the lines in things, the shadows and the light and how they played off each other, and I wanted to try to capture that."

I didn't become a picture-taker until after Scott and I were married. In fact, Mom is still frustrated that I didn't take ANY pictures both times I went to Europe! I just could never seem to get into carrying around a camera, and if I did happen to take a picture or two, I could never seem to get them developed!

During our honeymoon in the Black Hills, I became "the photographer's assistant." It was fun to help Scott manage his various lenses and equipment. There was something different about trying to capture the beauty around us instead of just documenting events. While Scott was capturing South Dakota, I started playing with our second camera. At first, I just took pictures of Scott so he could be in our honeymoon album; someone had to photograph the photographer! As I kept experimenting, I discovered that I began to see the lines in things, the shadows and the light and how they played off each other, and I wanted to try to capture that.
